Carrousel RDB — 28.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (80100701)
This is a 28.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH battery for the Carrousel RDB automatic door operator. It replaces OEM part 80100701 and fits the door controller's backup power circuit directly. When mains power drops, this battery keeps the door completing full open and close cycles without interruption.
- Carrousel RDB backup power circuit: The RDB operator relies on a 28.8V Ni-MH pack to match the door controller's voltage rail. The BMS on this pack communicates with the door's charge management board — swapping chemistry or voltage trips a fault state and disables backup mode entirely.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated power-fail simulations on the RDB platform. The BMS held charge delivery stable across full open-and-close cycles under motor load, and the controller recognised the pack without a fault flag on each run.
- Post-installation power-fail test: After fitting this battery, manually trigger a mains-fail test during a low-traffic period. Automatic door backup batteries must complete at least one full door cycle under load at installation — waiting until an actual outage to verify backup function is a compliance risk.
Automatic door not completing a full open cycle on battery backup
When the RDB operator runs on backup, it draws a surge of current at motor start. A partially depleted Ni-MH pack drops voltage sharply under that load, triggering the BMS to cut power mid-cycle. The door stalls partway open — not because the motor has failed, but because the battery pack cannot sustain the voltage rail above the controller's cutoff threshold. The fix is a fully charged pack: Ni-MH cells need a full 24-hour charge before a load test is valid.
Door controller loses its programming after a power outage
The RDB controller stores door settings — open speed, hold time, obstacle sensitivity — in volatile RAM. That RAM is backed continuously by the 28.8V battery pack, not by a separate coin cell. When the pack depletes fully, even a brief mains failure wipes the configuration. If the door reverts to default behaviour after every outage, the backup battery has failed rather than the controller board itself. Replace the pack and reprogram the door settings; verify the new pack reads above 28V on a multimeter before reinstalling.
