This is a 3.6V, 4000mAh Ni-CD replacement battery for the Ceag VL8 CGLine and Pro VL8 CGLine emergency lighting units. It slots directly into the fitting and connects to the existing charge controller. Voltage and capacity match the original cell specified under OEM part number 400-66-042-067.
- VL8 CGLine and Pro VL8 CGLine compatibility: Both variants run the same 3.6V charge rail and use an identical cell bay and connector. A single cell type covers both units because the charge controller voltage threshold and BMS acceptance window are shared across the standard and Pro builds.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and a simulated mains-failure discharge on the VL8 CGLine. The charge controller accepted the cell without fault flags, and the BMS held voltage through the full load period without tripping.
- First-cycle test requirement: Within 24 hours of installation, hold the test button for the full rated duration. A freshly installed Ni-CD cell has not yet been conditioned to its rated capacity — running one complete test cycle lets the charge controller register the new cell and sets an accurate baseline before the next scheduled compliance inspection.
Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement
A new Ni-CD cell ships in a partially discharged state and does not deliver rated capacity on the first activation. The charge controller in the VL8 CGLine begins float charging immediately after installation, but a single float period does not fully condition the cell. The cell requires one complete discharge-to-cutoff cycle before capacity stabilises at the rated 4000mAh. Run a manual full-duration test within 24 hours of installation — this primes the cell and resolves duration shortfalls before a formal compliance test is logged.
Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation
A Ni-CD cell that has been in storage for several months can sit below the float acceptance threshold the VL8 CGLine charge controller expects to see on connection. If the incoming cell voltage is too low, the controller holds the fault state and the indicator stays red rather than switching to charge or green. Leave the fitting on mains power for at least 12 hours — the controller will detect the rising cell voltage and shift out of fault mode once the cell clears approximately 3.3V. If the indicator has not moved after 24 hours, check the connector seating and confirm mains supply to the fitting.
