- V8 and K9 platform compatibility: Both terminals share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one cell covers both models. Swapping between units carries no additional configuration.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through multiple full charge and discharge passes on a V8 unit. The BMS accepted the handshake without fault codes, and the charge IC reached float voltage cleanly with no overcurrent trips during the receipt printer motor-start surge.

Receipt printer motor draw triggering BMS overcurrent on the V8
The V8's internal thermal receipt printer pulls a sharp current spike at motor start — around 1.5–2A above the steady-state draw — that arrives in under 50 milliseconds. A degraded original cell can no longer absorb this surge without the BMS tripping overcurrent protection. This replacement cell uses a higher-capacity cell chemistry that handles the transient without hitting the BMS threshold. If you see mid-print reboots on a brand-new battery, confirm the terminal firmware is current — older firmware versions set a tighter BMS overcurrent limit.
Terminal stuck on boot logo after sitting unused in a drawer
Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month. A V8 left unused for several months can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or 5.0V pack voltage — causing the terminal to display a boot logo then shut off immediately. Connect the terminal to its dock charger and leave it for a full 90-minute charge before attempting to power on. If the charger LED does not illuminate within five minutes, the cell is below the charger's recovery voltage floor — hold the power button for 10 seconds to force a recovery charge cycle on most V8 firmware versions.
