Cisco Linksys WIP310 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CIW31ZBR)
This is a 3.7V, 800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Cisco Linksys WIP310 wireless IP phone. It fits directly into the WIP310 handset and restores power to the device when the original cell has degraded. Voltage and connector match the OEM specification (CIW31ZBR).
- WIP310 compatibility: The WIP310 runs a single-cell Li-ion pack at 3.7V nominal. The handset BMS accepts this cell's charge profile and cutoff voltages without modification — no adapter or firmware workaround needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the WIP310 platform. The BMS accepted the charge curve without flagging a fault, and voltage held steady across the operating range during active WiFi transmission.
- First-charge protocol for WIP310: Place the handset in the base cradle immediately after installation and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge cycle before use. Li-ion cells shipped in storage state need one complete charge to allow the BMS to calibrate its state-of-charge reading accurately.
Talk time shorter than expected after fitting the new battery
A Li-ion cell shipped from storage arrives at a partial state of charge, and the WIP310 BMS may register this as a lower-capacity pack until it completes a full calibration cycle. The first one to three charge-discharge cycles are calibration passes, not failures. After each full cycle, the reported and actual capacity will converge. Run the handset to low battery, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — talk time should normalise within three cycles.
Base station charge indicator not lighting after battery swap
The WIP310 base checks for a minimum voltage threshold before it begins charging — a cell in deep storage state can sit below that threshold. If the charge LED does not activate when you dock the handset, remove the battery and check the contacts on both the battery and the handset are clean and making solid contact. Reinsert firmly and re-dock. If the base still does not respond, the cell voltage may need a brief recovery charge — a compatible external Li-ion charger set to 3.7V single-cell mode can bring the cell above the 3.0V acceptance floor so the base will then take over.
