- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and load cycles on W130-series hardware. The BMS communicated correctly with the system board, charge termination triggered at the expected cutoff voltage, and the fuel gauge IC accepted the new cell data without flagging a fault.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after swap
The W255CEW BIOS reads health data stored in the outgoing cell's EEPROM. When a new cell goes in, that EEPROM data resets to factory defaults, which the BIOS interprets as a mismatch — it flags health as poor or unknown before any charge cycles have run. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, and the BIOS learn cycle will rewrite the health register against actual cell performance. After two to three cycles, the health indicator stabilises.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC calibration is still based on the old, degraded cell. The percentage displayed does not match the new cell's actual voltage curve, so the system hits a hard voltage floor under CPU and display load while the gauge still reads 20–30%. The fix is calibration, not a hardware fault. Discharge fully to automatic hibernate, then charge to 100% without interruption — repeat this two to three times until the gauge tracks correctly against 10.8V nominal and the 9.0V low-voltage cutoff.
