It matches OEM part numbers CMLI2X4I005B and 022-000210-00. Capacity is 72Wh, identical to the factory specification.
- S8 and S8 Defibrillator Monitor fit: Both models share the same 14.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The S8 Defibrillator variant draws higher peak current during defibrillator charge cycles, but the same cell specification covers both load profiles.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on the S8 platform. The BMS handshook correctly on first insertion, the charge IC accepted the cell without fault, and the monitor cleared its self-test without logging a battery error code.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the S8 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this window triggers a persistent battery fault flag that clears only on a full reboot cycle.
Why the COMEN S8 flags a battery fault after a confirmed full charge
The S8 BMS compares cell voltage and internal resistance against stored OEM thresholds during the self-test cycle. A new replacement cell has not yet completed a conditioning cycle, so its internal resistance reading can sit outside the BMS acceptance window on the first pass. This is not a defective battery — it is the BMS applying conservative limits to an unconditioned cell. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle through the device and the resistance profile normalises, clearing the fault flag on the next startup.
S8 charge indicator stalls below 100% on first charge
On the first charge after installation, the COMEN S8 charge IC applies a reduced current limit to cells it has not previously logged — this is normal behaviour in medical-grade charge management. The indicator may plateau at 90–95% for an extended period before the final absorption phase completes. Do not disconnect the charger early. Let the cycle run to termination; the cell reaches full capacity at 16.8V at the pack terminals, and subsequent charges will display a normal ramp to 100%.
