Compumatic XL1000 Series — 9.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (AAP2000)

This is a 9.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Compumatic XL1000 and XL1000e time clocks. It replaces OEM part AAP2000 and restores battery-backed power to the clock's timekeeping circuitry, display, and RAM. Fit this battery when the clock loses time during power outages or shows a low battery warning.

  • XL1000 and XL1000e compatibility: Both models run the same 9.6V battery rail and use the same AAP2000 connector footprint. The battery feeds the RTC circuit and battery-backed RAM — the two functions that keep time and employee data alive when mains power drops.

Time clock losing all employee data after battery swap

The XL1000 keeps attendance records and employee enrollments in RAM that depends on continuous battery voltage to retain data. The moment battery voltage drops to zero — even briefly during a swap — that RAM clears completely. There is no internal capacitor on most XL1000 units to bridge the gap. Before pulling the old battery, use the clock's export function to save all data to a USB drive or PC, then restore after the new battery is seated and the clock has fully powered back up.

Clock not maintaining correct time after a power outage

If the XL1000 resets to a default time every time mains power drops, the backup battery is no longer holding sufficient voltage to sustain the RTC circuit. A degraded Ni-MH cell can measure above 8V on a multimeter at rest but still collapse under the small sustained load of the RTC — a resting voltage check alone won't catch this. Replace the battery and allow it to reach a full charge before the next outage. After fitting the new cell, confirm the clock holds the correct time through a deliberate mains power interruption of at least 60 seconds.
