The 8017-T00 modem and display draw peak current simultaneously during active calls or screen-on data sessions. If the cell voltage drops below roughly 3.5V under that combined load, the BMS trips a hard cutoff even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. This is a voltage-cliff issue — the cell cannot sustain the load, not a capacity problem with the replacement unit. Run one full discharge cycle to let the coulomb counter recalibrate, and the reported percentage will align more accurately with the actual cutoff point.
Phone won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage has dropped below 2.5V, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks current flow to protect the cell from damage. The phone will show no response — no boot screen, no charging indicator — because the BMS is refusing the charge request. Connect to a wall charger, not a USB port, and leave it undisturbed for 15–20 minutes; the charge IC on the 8017-T00 trickle-charges a locked-out cell at low current until voltage climbs above the 2.8V recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes.
