Creative Vado / Vado Pocket HD — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CAS101)
This is a 3.7V 750mAh Li-ion battery for the Creative Vado, Vado Video Cam, Vado Pocket HD, and VF0570 compact camcorders. It slots into the same bay as the original CAS101 and uses the same connector pinout. Capacity matches the stock specification — 750mAh (2.78Wh).
- Vado and Vado Pocket HD compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell battery bay, connector layout, and BMS communication protocol — which is why one part number covers all of them. The cell size is identical across the range at 40.30 × 35.30 × 6.10mm.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Vado unit, monitoring BMS handshake and cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage floor and accepted a full charge without error flags.
- First charge after extended storage: If the camcorder has been sitting unused, the cell may arrive in a deep-discharge protection state. Connect the charger and leave it for 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the BMS needs a slow trickle before it will accept normal charge current.
Battery percentage jumping on the Vado after a cell swap
The Vado's fuel gauge is calibrated to the voltage curve of the original cell. After fitting a new battery, the indicator reads voltage thresholds it hasn't mapped yet, so it can jump from 80% to 20% without warning. Run the battery down until the camcorder shuts off automatically, then charge it uninterrupted to full. One complete cycle resets the gauge to the new cell's actual discharge curve.
Vado cuts out during recording before the battery shows empty
The video encoder and LCD backlight together draw a current spike that a degraded or deeply discharged cell can't sustain — voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold even when the indicator still shows charge remaining. This is a cell condition issue, not a firmware fault. Fit the replacement, run a full charge cycle, and confirm the camcorder completes a recording session without the low-voltage cutoff triggering early. If it still cuts out, check that the battery contacts in the bay are clean and making firm contact.
