Battery percentage jumping after fitting a new cell in the Vado HD
The Vado HD uses a voltage-threshold fuel gauge — it reads remaining charge by measuring cell voltage, not by tracking charge history. A fresh cell has no charge history stored, so the indicator recalibrates in real time as voltage settles. You may see the percentage jump by 10–20% in the first few cycles. Run two full charge-to-discharge cycles and the reading will stabilise at the correct voltage-to-percentage mapping.
Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty
The Vado HD's video output and sensor circuits draw more current during active recording than during standby. At the end of a discharge curve, cell voltage sags under that load faster than the fuel gauge can track. The device shuts down to protect the cell even though the indicator still shows a remaining charge. This is a load-sag cutoff, not a faulty battery. Charge the cell back to 4.2V and the full usable capacity will be available again.
