Crestron TPMC-8X Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TPMC-8X-BTPE)
This is a 7.4V, 3600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Crestron TPMC-8X touchscreen control panel. It fits the TPMC-8X, TPMC-8X WiFi, and TPMC-8X-GA WiFi Touch Panel. The TPMC-8X-BTPE is the OEM part number this cell replaces directly.
- TPMC-8X, TPMC-8X WiFi, TPMC-8X-GA compatibility: All three models use the same 7.4V battery rail, connector layout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits all three without firmware or hardware changes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the TPMC-8X platform. The BMS accepted the pack without faults, and the panel completed full boot and wireless registration as expected.
- Post-install re-seating check: The TPMC-8X battery compartment uses a locking connector that must click fully into place. A partially seated connector causes the panel to report low battery or refuse to power on even with a fully charged cell — press the connector firmly until you hear the latch engage.
Why the TPMC-8X drops off the network after a battery swap
After installing a new cell, the TPMC-8X sometimes loses its WiFi association and fails to reconnect. This happens because a full power interruption during the swap clears the panel's volatile network state. The fix is to let the panel complete its full boot sequence — typically 60 to 90 seconds — before attempting any control commands. If the panel still shows offline, navigate to the network settings on the touchscreen and re-confirm the IP assignment or DHCP lease.
TPMC-8X touchscreen unresponsive after battery replacement
If the screen powers on but touch input does not register, the panel has likely booted into a calibration fault state triggered by the power gap during battery replacement. This is a known behaviour in Crestron touchpanel firmware when the battery is removed for an extended period. Hold the physical reset pinhole on the rear of the unit for five seconds to force a soft reset. After reboot, the touchscreen re-initialises the digitiser and normal input resumes — no reconfiguration of the control system is required.
