Cricket Debut S3 / U572AC — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TNO496386AG-N1)
This is a 3.85V, 3000mAh (11.55Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Cricket Debut S3 and U572AC smartphones. It fits the original battery bay and connects to the same BMS handshake points as the factory cell. Swap it in when the original cell can no longer hold a usable charge across a normal day.
- Debut S3 and U572AC compatibility: Both models use the same 3.85V Li-Polymer cell with identical connector pinout and BMS communication protocol — one replacement covers either device without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Debut S3 platform and confirmed the BMS handshake, charge termination at full capacity, and stable voltage delivery under combined modem and display load.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before any high-current charging session begins.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Debut S3 after a cell swap
A fresh Li-Polymer cell has a steeper voltage cliff than a partially aged one. When the Debut S3's modem fires a transmission burst or the screen brightness spikes, the new cell's internal voltage dips below the BMS cutoff threshold — even if the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. The gauge is reading a state-of-charge curve calibrated to the old cell, so the reported percentage and the real remaining voltage don't match yet. One full discharge-charge cycle without fast charging corrects the mapping. After that cycle, the phone's reported percentage should track actual capacity within a few percent.
USB fast charge not activating on the first charge after replacement
On the first charge cycle, the new BMS may not immediately negotiate the USB-PD or proprietary fast-charge handshake — the charge IC on the phone side runs a trickle-rate check before stepping up current to a cell it hasn't seen before. This is normal behaviour, not a fault. Let the first charge complete at standard rate. On the second cycle, the fast-charge protocol should re-engage normally. If fast charging still doesn't activate after two full cycles, check that the USB cable and adapter both support the required charge rate — a standard 5V/1A adapter won't trigger the fast-charge path regardless of the battery.
