Charging errors on a new pack almost always trace back to contact resistance between the battery terminals and the cradle dock pins. Oxidation, dust, or a slightly misaligned seating can interrupt the charge handshake before it starts. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until you hear it click. If the error clears, the cell will begin charging — confirm with a steady charge indicator on the cradle.

During a rapid scan sequence, the imager and the wireless radio draw current at the same time. If the cell voltage sags below the radio module's minimum operating threshold, the wireless link drops even though the scanner appears otherwise functional. A degraded or deeply discharged pack amplifies this sag. Charge the battery to full — 4.2V at the cell — and retest; if the drops stop, the pack was undervoltage rather than faulty.
