This is a 2.4V 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Datalogic PowerScan RF, PSRF1000, and 959 handheld barcode scanners. It replaces OEM part number 10-2427 and fits the physical battery bay with the same contact orientation. Voltage and capacity match the original specification from the product data.
- PowerScan RF, PSRF1000, and 959 compatibility: These three models share the same 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH battery bay, contact layout, and charge circuit. Swapping between them does not require any adapter or wiring change.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack through charge and discharge cycles on the PowerScan RF platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell chemistry without triggering a fault. Cradle charging completed normally with no error indication on the dock.
- First-shift preparation for pick-and-pack: Before using the scanner on a live shift, seat it in the charging cradle for a full charge cycle. The scan trigger inrush current is at its highest when the cell is near minimum voltage — a fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips on the first extended burst session.
Cradle charging error on a freshly installed pack
A new Ni-MH pack can read as a fault on the dock if the battery contacts have surface oxidation or residue from handling. The cradle's charge controller checks contact resistance on insertion — if it reads above threshold, it flags an error instead of starting the charge cycle. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. The dock should clear the error and begin charging within a few seconds.
Scanner drops wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During back-to-back scanning, the radio transmitter and the laser or imager draw current simultaneously. On a cell that is partially discharged, this combined inrush can pull the terminal voltage below the radio module's minimum operating threshold — the wireless link drops even though the scanner appears powered. This is not a radio fault; it is a voltage sag event caused by the cell's internal resistance under combined load. Charge the pack fully before a high-volume shift and the drop-out will not occur at the same scan frequency.
