Dell G3 15 3500 GN3500EDFSS Replacement Battery - Replaces 0JJRRD

$30.59In stock

Why this battery

  • Fits Dell G3 15 3500 and G5 5590 models, replaces OEM part 0JJRRD.
  • 15.2V, 4150mAh (63.08Wh) lithium-polymer cell matches the original power output for CPU and display loads.
  • Connector seats into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
  • We bench-tested this cell on a G3 15 3500 — BMS accepted charge without fault codes and held 15.2V under sustained load.
  • After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% to reset the BIOS battery learn cycle.

About this replacement

Dell G3 15 3500 / G5 5500 Series — 15.2V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (0JJRRD)

This 15.2V, 4150mAh (63.08Wh) lithium-polymer battery replaces OEM part 0JJRRD in the Dell G3 15 3500 and G5 5500 series laptops. It also fits the G3 15 3500 GN3500EDFSS, G3 15 3500 WDP8D, and G5 5590, among other models listed in the compatibility table. Direct swap for a degraded or failed original cell.

  • G3 and G5 series compatibility: These models share the same 15.2V four-cell Li-Polymer configuration, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol with Dell's EC firmware — which is why one part number covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through Dell's EC charge negotiation cycle, confirmed BMS communication, and verified the charge controller accepted the cell without triggering a fault state or lockout.
  • Post-install calibration on Dell gaming laptops: After fitting, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS to complete its battery learn cycle, which clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on these models.

Why the G3 15 shuts down at 20–30% after a battery swap

The G3 15's fuel gauge IC builds its discharge curve against the original cell's capacity profile stored in EEPROM. When a new cell goes in, the IC still references the old curve, so it misjudges the actual remaining charge. Under full CPU plus display load, the new cell hits a voltage cliff earlier than the IC predicts. The result is an abrupt shutdown even though the OS gauge still shows charge remaining. Two to three full calibration cycles — discharge to hibernate, charge to 100% uninterrupted — realign the IC to the new cell's actual curve.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after installation

Dell's BIOS reads health data from the battery's EEPROM register, which on a new replacement cell contains factory default values that don't yet reflect a completed charge cycle. The BIOS interprets those defaults as a degraded state and flags poor health. This is a data mismatch, not a fault with the cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a complete uninterrupted charge to 100% — the BIOS learn cycle will rewrite the health register and the warning will clear.
