It replaces OEM part GK5KY and cross-references including 451-BBKK, 4K8YH, and RHN1C. Fits the P20T platform shared across these slim-chassis Dell lines.

The Inspiron's fuel gauge IC was calibrated against the old cell's discharge curve. When a new cell is installed, the IC has no reference data — it predicts cutoff too early based on stale voltage thresholds. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load that the IC misreads as empty. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by uninterrupted full charges. After the second cycle the gauge recalibrates and the early shutdowns stop.
BIOS reports a different Wh rating than the OEM spec
The Wh value shown in Dell's battery report pulls from the cell's EEPROM, which stores the design capacity programmed at manufacture. Replacement cells may carry a slightly different EEPROM value than the original GK5KY pack, even when the actual chemistry and capacity match. This is a data field difference, not a fault. Confirm the pack is charging normally and reaching full voltage — 12.6V across the three cells at 100% SoC.
