Dell Inspiron 15 7547 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (0PXR51)
This is an 11.1V, 3800mAh (42.18Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Dell Inspiron 15 7547 and 7548, Vostro 14 5000 series, and other compatible Dell notebooks. It replaces OEM part numbers 0PXR51, 0YGR2V, D2VF9, and PXR51. If the original cell has degraded or no longer holds a charge, this is the direct cell replacement for those platforms.
- Inspiron 7547/7548 and Vostro 14 5000 platform fit: These models share the same 11.1V three-cell configuration, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The same battery pack spans all of them without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an Inspiron 7547 chassis. The BMS handshake completed on first insertion, BIOS recognised the pack, and the charge controller stepped through its stages without fault flags.
- First-cycle calibration on Dell notebooks: After installing, let the battery discharge fully until the laptop hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the machine. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after a cell swap.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after installation
Dell's BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers on the battery pack. When a new cell is installed, those registers don't match the charge history the BIOS expects from the old cell, so it flags the battery as degraded or unknown. This is a firmware read issue, not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — this writes fresh data to the fuel gauge IC and the BIOS health warning clears on the next boot.
Laptop shuts down suddenly at 20–30% charge shown
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve. The OS reads a reported percentage that doesn't match the cell's real voltage, and the system cuts power when the cell voltage drops below the BMS protection threshold — while the gauge still shows charge remaining. It is most visible under full CPU and display load, where voltage drops faster than the uncalibrated gauge can track. Run two to three full discharge-to-hibernate and full-recharge cycles to bring the gauge into alignment with the cell; the shutdowns stop once calibration stabilises around 3.0V per cell at cutoff.
