Dell Inspiron 6000 / 9300 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (310-6321)
This is an 11.1V, 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion battery for the Dell Inspiron 6000, 9200, 9300, and 9400 series laptops. It replaces OEM part numbers including 310-6321, D5318, YF976, and C5974, among others. The battery slots into the standard bay on these platforms and connects via the original latch mechanism.
- Inspiron 6000 / 9000 series platform fit: These models share a common 11.1V three-cell battery rail, identical bay dimensions (209.40 × 71.80 × 19.80mm), and the same SMBus connector pinout. One cell services all listed models without hardware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an Inspiron 9300. The BMS communicated correctly over SMBus, reported capacity to the OS, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- Post-install learn cycle on Dell BIOS: After fitting this battery, run it down to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the false "poor health" warning that appears after any cell swap on these Dell platforms.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement
Dell BIOS reads health data from the battery's EEPROM. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM data doesn't match the charge history the BIOS expects from a worn-in pack. The system flags it as degraded before it has run a single cycle. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the learn cycle and synchronises the BIOS health reading with the actual cell state.
Laptop shutting down at 20–30% remaining after battery swap
The fuel gauge IC in these Dell platforms calibrates against the old cell's voltage curve. A new cell has a steeper voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load, so the IC misjudges remaining capacity and triggers shutdown before the gauge hits zero. This is not a battery fault — it corrects itself after two to three full discharge-and-charge calibration cycles. If shutdowns persist past three cycles, check that the BIOS is not enforcing a charge limit under Dell Power Manager settings.
