The Venue 11 Pro runs the display backlight and WiFi simultaneously under normal use, which creates a combined current draw that can exceed what a degraded — or newly swapped, uncalibrated — cell reports it can supply. The fuel gauge IC holds discharge data from the previous cell and applies incorrect low-voltage cutoff thresholds. When the actual cell voltage drops faster than the IC expects, the BMS triggers a hard cutoff before the reported percentage reaches zero. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the calibration and resolves premature shutdowns.
Windows showing 0% or "plugged in, not charging" after battery replacement
This happens when the SMBus connection between the battery BMS and the charge IC on the motherboard doesn't complete its handshake on the first power-on. The tablet powers from the adapter but refuses to register the new cell as a valid battery. Remove the power adapter, hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual charge from the board, reconnect the adapter only, and allow the tablet to sit powered off but plugged in for two minutes before booting. On boot, Windows should detect the battery and begin charging from whatever state-of-charge the new cell holds — check that the reported voltage reads above 7.0V in the Device Manager battery entry to confirm a successful handshake.
