Dell Venue / V03B — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (214L0)
This 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Dell Venue and V03B tablet. It fits the same physical footprint and connector as the factory unit. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge across a normal day.
- Venue and V03B compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with an identical connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers both variants without any hardware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Venue platform, confirmed BMS communication, verified the protection circuit trips correctly at the low-voltage cutoff, and checked that the charge IC accepted the cell without fault flags.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption — this gives the fuel gauge IC a clean discharge curve to calibrate against before high-current charging begins.

The Venue's fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve from the old cell. When the new cell arrives with different internal impedance, the IC maps voltage readings against the wrong curve. At around 20–30% reported charge, the real cell voltage has already dropped below what the system expects for that percentage under screen or modem load. The device cuts power before the OS can react. One full uncalibrated discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% rewrites the stored curve and eliminates the early cutoff.

The coulomb counter and fuel gauge IC on the Venue are calibrated to the impedance profile of the cell they last fully cycled. A new cell has a different discharge curve, so the reported percentage drifts — often reading 50% while the real state of charge is closer to 30%. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Force a full discharge to device shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single cycle, the IC recalculates its reference points and percentage accuracy returns to normal.
