- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the P706T replacement through charge and discharge cycles on Venue 7 hardware. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake cleanly, with no charge-refused or authentication error states logged.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without removing the cable. This gives the tablet's fuel gauge IC a complete voltage curve to read against the new cell and eliminates the inaccurate percentage display that almost always appears after a battery swap.
Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still using the voltage curve it learned from the degraded original cell. The new cell has a steeper voltage drop in the lower charge range than the old worn cell, so the tablet hits its low-voltage cutoff threshold earlier than the percentage display suggests. Under combined display and Wi-Fi load, this gap gets wider and the shutdown feels sudden. Run one full discharge-to-cutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — after that cycle the IC recalibrates and the shutdowns at 20% stop.
Android reporting 1% or stuck percentage immediately after fitting the new cell
A stuck or instantly-low percentage reading means the fuel gauge IC has no valid state-of-charge reference for the new cell's chemistry profile. This is not a fault in the replacement battery. The tablet has not completed a calibration cycle against the new cell's actual open-circuit voltage range. Charge to 100% uninterrupted, power off, then power back on — if the percentage is still stuck below 5% after a full charge, boot into recovery, clear the cache partition, and recheck; this forces Android to re-query the fuel gauge register at 4.2V full-charge reference.
