Why the Vostro 1220 BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap
The Vostro 1220 stores charge history and health data in the battery's EEPROM. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM contains factory defaults the BIOS doesn't recognise as a valid charge history. Running one complete discharge-to-hibernate then a full uninterrupted charge writes fresh data to the learn cycle and resolves the warning without any firmware update.

The old curve is still in memory, so the percentage reading drifts from the real state of charge.
