This 3.7V, 550mAh Li-ion cell replaces part number 990307 in the Delphi XM SKYFi 3 and SA10225 portable satellite radio receivers. It restores power to a unit where the original cell has degraded or failed completely. Voltage and capacity match the OEM spec exactly — no modifications needed.
- XM SKYFi 3 and SA10225 compatibility: Both units share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V charging circuit. A single cell covers both models with no adapter or wiring change.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the SKYFi 3 platform. The onboard protection circuit engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff and accepted a standard charge current without flagging a fault.
- First charge after a long shelf gap: If the receiver sat unused for months, the cell may have dropped below the BMS activation threshold. Connect the charger and leave it for 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the circuit needs a trickle current to exit deep-discharge protection before it will accept a full charge rate.
Battery percentage jumping after cell swap in the SKYFi 3
The SKYFi 3 estimates charge level using voltage thresholds mapped to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell has a slightly different resting voltage profile, so the indicator recalibrates over the first few cycles. Expect the percentage readout to jump or sit at an unexpected level for the first two or three full charge-discharge cycles. Run the battery down until the unit shuts off on its own, then charge it fully — the indicator stabilises once the device logs a complete cycle.
Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty
The audio amplifier in the SKYFi 3 draws a brief current spike when buffering or switching channels. Near the end of a discharge cycle, cell voltage sags enough during that spike to trip the low-voltage cutoff, even if the indicator still shows charge remaining. This is a cell behaviour, not a unit fault. If this happens repeatedly, run the device down to automatic shutoff once to let it map the actual cutoff voltage — 3.0V is the floor the protection circuit targets.
