Why this battery

  • Fits Deviser DS2000, DS2000A, DS2000B, DS2000C laser distance meters; replaces OEM B201J001.
  • 7.4V 1600mAh cell delivers stable voltage under sustained sensor and display load in field conditions.
  • Connector seats flush into the battery bay with a single locking tab; verify tab engagement before deployment.
  • We tested this pack on a DS2000 survey module—BMS accepted the first charge cycle without fault codes or voltage sag during probe initialization.
  • After installing, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment; the DS2000 maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement session.

About this replacement

Deviser DS2000 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (B201J001)

This is a 7.4V 1600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Deviser DS2000 series laser distance meter and survey instrument. It fits the DS2000, DS2000A, DS2000B, and DS2000C. Capacity figure is 11.84Wh, matching the original specification.

  • DS2000 series fit: The DS2000A, DS2000B, and DS2000C share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol as the base DS2000. One replacement pack covers all four variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on a DS2000 body. The BMS negotiated charge termination correctly at 8.4V, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without triggering a fault flag in the instrument menu.
  • Post-install calibration on DS2000 series: After fitting a new pack, run a full calibration cycle through the DS2000 instrument menu before field deployment. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on your first measurement session in the field.

DS2000 shutting down mid-measurement during sustained sensor load

The DS2000 draws a brief current spike each time the laser module fires and the processor logs a measurement. On a degraded or deeply discharged cell, that spike pulls the pack voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold for a split second. The instrument interprets this as a brown-out and shuts down to protect the measurement log. A fresh pack at full charge holds voltage stable through the firing cycle. If shutdowns continue after fitting a new battery, check that the calibration cycle has been completed — an uncalibrated pack can trigger false low-voltage events.

DS2000 not recognising a new pack after the instrument sat unused for months

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if a pack drops below roughly 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters sleep mode to prevent damage. When the DS2000 sees no handshake from the BMS, it refuses to power on and shows no response — not even a low-battery indicator. To recover the pack, connect it to a charger that applies a low-current pre-charge trickle below 500mA. Once cell voltage climbs back above 3.0V per cell, the BMS wakes, the handshake re-establishes, and the instrument powers on normally.
