Dirt Devil EV3420 — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CM210703-4S1P)
This is a 14.4V, 2600mAh lithium-ion battery for the Dirt Devil EV3420 cordless stick vacuum. It replaces OEM part CM210703-4S1P directly. The pack fits the EV3420's battery bay and connects to the same BMS handshake circuit the charger expects before delivering current.
- EV3420 compatibility: The EV3420 runs a 4-cell series Li-ion configuration at 14.4V nominal. This pack matches that cell arrangement and the connector orientation. The vacuum's motor controller reads voltage at startup — a pack mismatched in cell count will either fail to start or trigger an immediate protection cutoff.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge cycles on a 14.4V Li-ion charger and monitored BMS response under simulated motor-start load. The protection circuit tripped correctly at overcurrent thresholds and reset cleanly after load was removed. Cell balance across the four cells stayed within 20mV after full charge.
- Dock charging habit on the EV3420: Do not leave the EV3420 sitting on its charging dock permanently. The charger does not enter a true storage float mode — continuous connection maintains a low trickle that degrades cell capacity faster than normal cycle use. Charge to full, remove from dock, and return it when the pack is depleted.
Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens when the motor is pulling more current than the BMS expects at that state of charge. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, drawing sustained high current. The BMS reads this as a pack under stress and reduces output voltage to protect the cells — you feel it as suction loss, not a dead battery. Clean or replace the filter first, then test suction at the same charge level.
Motor cuts out mid-clean then restarts after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failed battery. When the vacuum head encounters a blockage or heavily restricted airflow, current draw spikes sharply. The protection circuit opens the output to prevent cell damage, then resets once temperature and load drop. Clear the brush roll, check the filter for compacted debris, and confirm the vacuum inlet path is unobstructed before restarting. If the cutout still occurs on a clear machine, measure resting pack voltage — it should read above 15.6V on a full charge.
