Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty
As the cell discharges toward 3.5V, the amplifier inside the Macchiato starts drawing more current to maintain output power. Voltage sags under that combined load, and the amplifier clips before the battery indicator triggers the low-battery warning. The audio sounds distorted or thin, but the LED still shows charge remaining. If this happens, the cell is near its lower usable limit — plug in at that point rather than waiting for the indicator to catch up.
Speaker not waking up from USB after sitting unused for weeks
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge during storage. If the Macchiato sits unused long enough, the cell can drop below the USB charge controller's minimum acceptance voltage — typically around 2.5V — and the unit won't respond when plugged in. Leave it connected to a 5V USB source for 20–30 minutes without expecting any response. Once the cell recovers past the acceptance threshold, the charge controller will engage and the indicator will come on.
