Dogtra Transmitter D500T Series — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BP15RT)
This 7.2V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the BP15RT and BP15 in Dogtra handheld transmitters. It fits the D500T, D500B, RRS, RRD, and several additional Dogtra transmitter models. The transmitter is the handheld remote you carry during training sessions — this battery keeps it sending signals to your receiver collars.
- D500T / D500B / RRS / RRD compatibility: These transmitters share the same 7.2V Ni-MH cell configuration, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. One battery part number covers the full range because the charge circuitry and cutoff thresholds are identical across the series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell in a D500T transmitter. The BMS accepted charge from the standard Dogtra dock without fault codes, and the transmitter powered on immediately at full charge. Cutoff voltage held within spec at both ends of the cycle.
- Ni-MH cycle care for transmitters: Dogtra Ni-MH transmitter batteries lose capacity faster when left partially charged between sessions. If you train infrequently, run the transmitter down to low-battery warning before docking — this keeps the cells balanced and slows voltage depression.
Voltage depression in Ni-MH transmitter batteries and why the D500T behaves erratically
Ni-MH cells develop voltage depression when repeatedly topped off before they are fully discharged. The transmitter's low-battery indicator triggers earlier than expected, and signal output becomes inconsistent before full cutoff. This is a cell condition, not a transmitter fault. A full discharge-recharge cycle on the new battery resets the baseline — the BMS re-calibrates its reference voltage on first full cycle.
Transmitter powers on but collar does not respond after battery swap
A fresh battery restores transmitter power but does not automatically restore the RF pairing state. Some Dogtra transmitters reset their output channel or correction level defaults when power is fully interrupted. Check that the stimulation level dial is not at zero and that the transmitter and collar are still paired — power cycle the collar separately if needed. Confirm the transmitter is sending by holding the button and watching the collar's indicator light for a response.
