- R20 platform fit: The R20 runs an 8-series cell pack at 29.6V nominal. This replacement matches that configuration — same cell count, same voltage rail, same connector pinout. The BMS handshake the R20 charger expects is maintained, so the charger recognises the pack and proceeds through its normal charge curve.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the R20 platform and monitored BMS response across sustained motor load. The protection circuit held within spec, and the cell voltage balanced correctly at the top of charge.
- Dock charging on the R20: Do not leave the R20 sitting on the charging dock indefinitely. Once the pack reads full, remove it. Continuous trickle charge from the dock accelerates cell degradation faster than regular charge-and-discharge cycles do — charge when depleted, then remove.
Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low
The R20's motor draws significantly more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter can push draw well above the rated operating range. The BMS reads this as an overcurrent condition and reduces power to the motor before the battery indicator registers as low. The result is a noticeable drop in suction even though the pack still shows charge. Clean the filter first and retest — suction typically recovers without any battery intervention.
Motor cutting out mid-session and then recovering after a short pause
This pattern — motor stops, user waits, motor restarts — points to the BMS tripping on sustained high current draw rather than a dead cell. It happens most often on thick carpet or when the dust canister is nearly full and airflow drops. The BMS thermal cutoff releases once current demand falls back below the trip threshold. Empty the canister, check the filter for blockage, and confirm the pack voltage reads above 25V before the next run.
