Dremel MM20V Series — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery (F013CM2000)
This is a 20V Li-ion replacement battery rated at 2000mAh (40Wh), built to OEM part number F013CM2000. It fits the Dremel MM20V, MM20V-02, and US20V cordless oscillating multi-tool platforms. Swap it when the original pack no longer holds charge or when a second battery keeps a project moving without stopping to wait on the charger.
- MM20V and US20V platform fit: The MM20V, MM20V-02, and US20V share the same 20V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers all three without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated motor-start inrush events on the MM20V platform. The BMS held the overcurrent threshold across cold starts and sustained cutting runs without tripping.
- Break-in on oscillating tools: On first use, run the multi-tool at half speed through two full work cycles before pushing maximum load. This lets the BMS log the motor inrush profile and calibrate overcurrent thresholds before you stress the pack with heavy grinding or metal cutting.
BMS cutoff on trigger pull during motor-start inrush
The MM20V motor draws a sharp inrush current spike the instant the trigger fires — this spike can exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold on a new or cold pack and cause an immediate shutdown. A new battery hasn't yet logged an inrush profile, so its protection circuit defaults to a conservative cutoff limit. Running the tool at moderate speed for the first two cycles teaches the BMS the actual motor load curve. After that, full-speed starts on wood, metal, or grout clear the overcurrent window without tripping.
Charger blinking red on a new pack pulled from storage
Dremel chargers use a handshake voltage check before entering bulk charge mode — if the pack has self-discharged below roughly 12V during storage, the charger refuses to engage and blinks red. This is a protection state, not a dead battery. Place the pack in the charger, wait 10–15 minutes, and remove it; repeat two or three times to let the charger attempt a trickle pre-charge pulse. Once cell voltage climbs above the acceptance threshold (typically 14–15V on a 20V pack), the charger locks on and charges normally.
