This is a 14.8V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery replacing OEM part 1888636 in the DYMO XTL 500 and LabelManager 500TS portable label printers. It fits the XTL 500 Label Maker and LabelManager PnP Wireless as well. Voltage and connector match the original — no modification required.

Voltage sag during the paper feed motor start on the XTL 500
The XTL 500 paper feed motor pulls a brief high-current spike at the start of every print cycle. A degraded or partially charged battery drops voltage sharply at that moment. When voltage sags below the printer's motor drive threshold, the unit pauses mid-label or aborts the job. A fresh, fully charged cell holds the rail above 13.5V through that spike and feeds labels cleanly.
Faded or uneven print after switching to a new battery
The thermal print head in the XTL 500 requires a stable voltage supply to maintain consistent head temperature across the full label width. If voltage fluctuates — common with a new battery that hasn't been through a calibration cycle — heat output varies stripe by stripe, producing lighter patches or uneven density. Running the five-print calibration sequence at full charge stabilises the thermal head's power draw profile. Check that the pack reads at least 14.4V resting before the first production run.
