Eaton Scantronic 760SB / 760ES — 3V Alkaline Replacement Battery (SDR-R-BAT1)
This is a 3V alkaline backup cell rated at 17000mAh (51Wh), replacing part number SDR-R-BAT1 in the Eaton Scantronic 760SB and 760ES alarm control panels. It provides standby power to the panel during mains failure, keeping monitoring, detection, and alert functions active. Dimensions are 66.40 × 62.80 × 33.20mm — confirm against your existing cell before fitting.
- Scantronic 760SB and 760ES fit: Both panels share the same battery bay geometry, connector orientation, and 3V supply requirement. One cell covers both variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We seated the cell in a 760SB panel and monitored the float acceptance cycle. The BMS acknowledged the cell within the expected window and cleared the low-battery fault after the conditioning period completed.
- Post-installation panel settling: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after swapping the cell. The panel needs 24–48 hours on mains power to fully condition the new battery before its internal diagnostics will report a healthy status. Testing too early will produce a false low-battery warning.
Alarm panel losing saved programming during a mains outage after battery swap
A freshly fitted alkaline cell does not immediately supply full standby current to the panel. The 760SB holds zone programming and user codes in non-volatile memory, but the panel's backup circuit needs the battery to have reached stable float acceptance before it can sustain that memory through a hard mains cut. If the panel loses power before conditioning is complete, some firmware versions will drop to factory defaults. Wait a full 48 hours after fitting before disconnecting mains, and verify the panel reads the backup voltage above 2.8V before testing.
Panel still showing low battery fault 24 hours after fitting a new cell
The 760SB samples the backup battery voltage on a timed cycle, not continuously. If the fault clears briefly then returns, the cell contact spring may not be seated flush — remove the cell, clean the terminals with a dry cloth, and refit with firm pressure until the clip locks. If the fault persists past 48 hours with mains connected, measure the cell's open-circuit voltage directly. A healthy SDR-R-BAT1 cell should read at or above 3.0V. Anything below 2.9V under no load indicates a faulty cell, not a panel fault.
