EGO Grass Shears & Shrub Trimmer — 12V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is the CBA0240 replacement battery for the EGO CHT2001E, a dual-attachment cordless tool that switches between a hedge shrub blade and a grass trimmer head. It runs on EGO's 12V platform and delivers 2000mAh (24Wh) of capacity. Fits the CHT2001E directly using the original connector and battery housing geometry.
- CHT2001E compatibility: Both the shrub and grass shear configurations draw from the same 12V battery rail with the same connector and BMS handshake, so one battery serves both cutting heads.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran full charge/discharge cycles — the BMS held voltage steady under load across both attachment types and tripped the low-voltage cutoff cleanly without requiring a manual reset.
- First charge on a new cell: Run a full charge before first use. Li-ion cells ship in partial-charge storage state, and a complete initial cycle helps the BMS calibrate its state-of-charge tracking accurately.
Why a 12V pack suits a light-duty cutting platform
The CHT2001E uses short, reciprocating blade strokes — not a high-torque rotary motor. A 12V, 2Ah cell is well-matched to that load profile. The current draw stays modest, which reduces heat buildup inside the pack during use. That keeps cell degradation slower compared to higher-draw tools running similar chemistry.
Tool cuts weakly then stops — what's happening and how to fix it
If the shears slow noticeably before shutting off, the BMS is hitting its low-voltage protection threshold. This often looks like a dying battery but is usually a BMS doing its job correctly on an aged or deeply discharged cell. Recharge immediately rather than forcing more cycles from a nearly depleted pack. Storing the battery in a cool, dry location at around 50% charge between uses slows the capacity fade that causes this symptom to appear earlier over time.
