Why this battery

  • Fits Einhell BT-CD 10.8/1 Li compact drill-driver; replaces OEM battery part number BT-CD 10.8/1 Li.
  • Delivers 10.8V at 1500mAh capacity for sustained drilling and fastening in wood, metal, and plastic materials.
  • Connector slots vertically into the drill's battery bay with a spring-loaded retention tab on the lower edge.
  • We bench-tested this cell with the Einhell charger after storage; BMS accepted full charge without fault codes.
  • On first use with this 10.8V pack, run the drill at half throttle for two cycles before full torque applications.

About this replacement

Einhell BT-CD 10.8/1 Li — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-CD 10.8/4 Li)

This is a 10.8V, 1500mAh lithium-ion replacement battery for the Einhell BT-CD 10.8/1 Li and BT-CD 10.8/4 Li compact cordless drill/drivers. It slots into the same battery bay and connects via the same slide-rail contact system as the original pack. Capacity is rated at 1500mAh (16.2Wh) — matched to the original specification.

  • BT-CD 10.8/1 Li and BT-CD 10.8/4 Li fit: Both models share the same 10.8V slide-rail platform, battery bay dimensions, and BMS communication handshake — one pack works across both without adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated trigger-pull events on a BT-CD 10.8 chassis. The BMS held overcurrent thresholds stable across motor-start inrush spikes without tripping into protection mode under normal drill and driver loads.
  • Motor-start conditioning on first use: Run the drill at half load — light drilling in wood or plastic — for the first two charge cycles before applying full torque. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature and set overcurrent thresholds accurately for your specific unit.

BMS cutoff on trigger-pull inrush surge in the BT-CD 10.8

The BT-CD 10.8 motor draws a spike of current the instant the trigger closes — this inrush can be three to five times the steady running current. A new pack's BMS starts with conservative overcurrent thresholds and may interpret that spike as a fault. After two to three full charge-discharge cycles, the BMS recalibrates those thresholds against the actual motor behaviour. If cutouts continue beyond the break-in period, check the battery rail contacts for oxidation — resistance at the contact point amplifies the apparent voltage sag the BMS sees.

Charger not recognising the pack after it has been in storage

Li-ion cells that have self-discharged below approximately 2.5V per cell will fall outside the voltage window most chargers use to verify a valid pack — the charger rejects the battery rather than risk charging a deeply discharged cell unsafely. On the Einhell 10.8V system, this shows as the charger LED blinking without entering a charge cycle. Insert the pack, wait 60 seconds, then remove and reinsert — some chargers will attempt a low-current recovery pulse on the second connection. If the charger still rejects it after two attempts, the cells have dropped below recoverable voltage, typically under 8.0V total pack voltage.
