- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on the ZB264x motor under normal and restricted-airflow conditions. The BMS held voltage above 4.2V through full draw cycles before stepping down correctly, with no false overcurrent trips during sustained operation.
- Dock charging discipline for the ZB264x: This model's charging circuit does not stop current when the pack is full — leaving the vacuum permanently on the dock applies a continuous trickle that degrades Ni-MH cells faster than normal cycling. Charge to full, then remove from the dock until depleted.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The ZB264x motor draws more current when airflow is restricted by a partially blocked filter or full dust cup. As current demand rises, a degraded or partially discharged Ni-MH pack sags in voltage faster than the indicator circuit can register. The result is reduced suction well before the LED shows a low-battery warning. Clean the filter and empty the cup first — if suction recovers, the battery is not the cause.
Motor cuts out mid-clean then recovers after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failed motor. When sustained restricted airflow forces the motor to draw current beyond the pack's rated threshold, the BMS disconnects to protect the cells. After a brief cooldown the circuit resets and the vacuum runs again. The fix is to clear the filter and check the suction path for blockages — once airflow normalises, current draw drops back within the BMS limit and the cutouts stop.
