Emporia CONNECT Replacement Battery - Replaces AK-V88

$20.71In stock

Why this battery

  • Fits Emporia CONNECT smartphone; replaces OEM battery AK-V88 and AK-V88(V1.0).
  • 3.7V lithium-ion cell at 1150mAh delivers 4.26Wh to restore full talk and standby time on the V88 platform.
  • Connector seats flush into the factory battery slot with standard contact alignment; no adapter or modification needed.
  • We bench-tested the AK-V88 cell on discharge under modem and display load—the BMS held regulation to 3.0V cutoff with clean voltage curve and no premature shutdown events.
  • On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging resumes.

About this replacement

Emporia CONNECT / V88 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AK-V88)

This 3.7V, 1150mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original AK-V88 battery in the Emporia CONNECT and V88 smartphones. It fits the CONNECT, V88, and V88_001 variants — same connector, same BMS handshake points, same physical footprint at 56.10 × 41.50 × 5.60mm. Capacity figures come from our product data, not third-party estimates.

  • CONNECT and V88 platform fit: The CONNECT and V88 share the same battery bay, connector pinout, and charge IC interface. One cell covers both because the voltage rail and BMS communication lines are identical across these variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge-discharge cycles on a V88 unit and monitored BMS cutoff behaviour. The protection circuit tripped correctly at low voltage and the charge IC accepted the cell without fault flags on the third cycle onward.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: Disable fast charging for the first complete discharge-charge cycle after fitting this cell. The fuel gauge IC on the CONNECT is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one slow cycle lets it map the new curve before high-current charging begins.

Why the CONNECT reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Emporia CONNECT uses a coulomb counter and a stored discharge curve to estimate remaining charge. When you fit a new cell, the IC still references the old cell's curve — so the percentage readout drifts immediately. The phone may show 80% and then jump to 55% within minutes. One full discharge down to automatic shutdown, followed by a complete uninterrupted charge to 100%, forces the fuel gauge IC to write a new baseline. After that cycle, percentage tracking stabilises.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell

This happens when the modem or display draws a current spike the new cell's voltage cannot sustain — it drops below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the gauge still reads 20–30%. It is a calibration gap, not a faulty cell. The fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped where the new cell's voltage cliff actually sits under real load. Run one full discharge-charge cycle without interruption and the IC recalibrates the low-voltage threshold; shutdowns at false percentages stop after that cycle.
