Emporia JOY LTE Replacement Battery - Replaces AK-V227(V2)

$20.71In stock

Why this battery

  • Fits Emporia JOY LTE, V228LTE_001, V288, and V288i-LTE models; replaces OEM part numbers AK-V227(V2) and AK-V228.
  • 3.7V, 900mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers 3.33Wh to power the phone's display and modem without voltage sag.
  • Connector plugs directly into the original battery slot; physical dimensions match the OEM pack at 53.70 x 42.00 x 5.10mm.
  • We bench-tested this cell on the JOY LTE motherboard; the BMS initialized cleanly and held voltage under standby load.
  • On first charge after installation, complete one full discharge-to-shutdown cycle before regular use; the fuel gauge IC needs this cycle to recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve.

About this replacement

Emporia JOY LTE — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AK-V227(V2))

This 3.7V, 900mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Emporia JOY LTE and related V288 series handsets. It fits the JOY LTE, V228LTE_001, V288, and V288i-LTE models. Dimensions are 53.70 × 42.00 × 5.10mm — measure your existing cell before fitting if you are unsure of the variant.

  • V288 series compatibility: The JOY LTE, V228LTE_001, V288, and V288i-LTE share the same battery bay geometry and connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is consistent across these variants, so the same cell services all four without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on V288-series hardware. The BMS accepted charge at the correct 4.2V cutoff, protection circuitry tripped cleanly on overcurrent, and the fuel gauge IC initialised without error flags after the first full cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting, disable any fast-charge adapter for the first complete discharge-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC needs one full cycle against the new cell's discharge curve before it can report accurate percentages — skipping this step causes erratic readings in the first few days of use.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Emporia JOY LTE after a cell swap

The JOY LTE drives an LTE modem and a large backlit display simultaneously. These loads pull current in short, sharp bursts. A new cell that has not completed its first full cycle has not yet settled its internal resistance, so voltage sags sharply under burst load even when the fuel gauge still shows 20–30% remaining. The phone's hardware monitor reads the voltage drop as a low-battery event and shuts down to protect the modem. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and the sag reduces significantly as the cell conditions.

OS reporting wrong battery percentage after replacement

The fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve for the old, degraded cell. When a new 900mAh cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual charge state, so the percentage reading jumps or reads low. The fix is a single full discharge to automatic power-off followed by a full charge to 100% with the phone off or idle. After that cycle, the coulomb counter resets its baseline and percentage tracking stabilises.
