The SmartLux 2.5 combines LED illumination and optical zoom motor draws in short, sharp bursts. If the cell's internal resistance has risen — common in aged OEM packs — voltage dips under that combined load briefly touch the BMS cutoff threshold, tripping shutdown even though the resting voltage looks fine. A new cell with lower internal resistance holds voltage stable through those load spikes. After fitting the replacement, confirm the device completes a full LED-on, maximum-zoom cycle without interruption before signing off for field deployment.
SmartLux 2.5 not powering on after sitting unused in a carry case for months
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly in storage. If the pack drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters a protective sleep state and the device will not respond to the power button at all — it looks completely dead. Connect the SmartLux 2.5 to its charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes without interruption; the charger applies a low-current recovery pulse that brings the cell back above the BMS wake threshold. If the charge indicator does not activate within 40 minutes, the original cell has discharged too deeply to recover — swap in the replacement pack and begin a normal charge cycle from there.
