IR output drop on the DMR-1 as cell voltage falls
The DMR-1's IR LED driver needs a stable voltage to push enough current through the emitter for a clean signal. As the Li-ion cell discharges past roughly 3.4V, the LED drive current drops below the threshold needed for reliable transmission. The remote may still appear "on" — the indicator light might flash — but the IR burst loses the range and intensity needed to register on the receiver. Replacing the cell when resting voltage reads below 3.5V prevents this gradual dropout.
Remote stops responding after the battery is replaced
The most common cause is connector polarity. Even though the DMR-1 uses a keyed Li-ion connector, the housing can be reassembled with the cable seated at a slight angle, breaking contact intermittently. Open the remote, reseat the connector firmly until it clicks, then test. If the remote still won't respond, measure the replacement cell's voltage with a multimeter — a new cell should read at least 3.6V at rest before installation.
