- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack through charge and load cycles, confirming the BMS holds the charge rail steady under CPU and display load without triggering an over-current cutoff at full draw.
- First-install calibration on the CE1200V: After fitting this pack, run one full discharge to the hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this model.
Why the CE1200V shuts down at 20–30% remaining after a battery swap
The CE1200V BIOS tracks battery state using stored EEPROM data from the previous cell. When a new pack is installed, that stored data no longer matches the actual charge curve of the fresh cell. Under full CPU plus display load, the laptop hits a voltage cliff — the cell voltage drops sharply before the fuel gauge reaches zero, and the system cuts power to protect itself. Running two full calibration cycles — discharge to hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — gives the fuel gauge IC enough data points to map the new cell's discharge curve accurately.
BIOS showing 0% or "unknown battery" immediately after fitting the new pack
This happens because the BIOS reads battery identity and health data from the pack's EEPROM, and the new cell presents different data than the one it expects. The system logs this as an unrecognised or unhealthy battery rather than a hardware fault. Power the laptop off completely, reseat the battery, and boot into the BIOS setup screen to let the controller re-poll the pack. If the warning persists, complete one full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted recharge cycle — the fuel gauge IC will re-initialise against the new cell and the BIOS reading should correct to a valid percentage.
