Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage drops below the pump's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 10.5V for a 12V pack — the device will not attempt a boot sequence at all. Connect the pump to mains power first and allow a full trickle charge before pressing power. Once the cell rises above the recovery floor, normal startup resumes.
