Why the DS7100 triggers a low-battery alarm on a freshly charged replacement
The DS7100 BMS is calibrated to OEM cell chemistry and uses coulomb counting to assess state of charge. A new replacement cell has no charge history in the device's BMS memory, so the counter starts without a reference baseline. Until the BMS completes one full charge-discharge cycle, it reads capacity conservatively and may flag low-battery at voltages that are actually acceptable. Run one complete cycle — charge to full, discharge through normal use, charge again — before treating any alarm as a genuine fault.
DS7100 fails to complete boot sequence after battery sits in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If this battery has sat long enough, cell voltage may drop below the DS7100's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 10V for a 14.8V four-cell pack. At that voltage, the BMS enters protection mode and blocks load current, which looks identical to a dead or incompatible battery. Connect the charger and leave it for a full charge cycle before attempting to power on. If the charge indicator does not respond within 30 minutes, the cell voltage is likely below the charger's wake-up threshold — try a different compatible charger that supports recovery charging down to 2.5V per cell.
