Gardol GAH-E 2046 Li OA / GAM-E 33/1 Li Series — 20.0V Li-ion Replacement Battery (4511403)
This is a 20.0V, 2000mAh (40Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the Gardol GAH-E 2046 Li OA and a range of compatible Gardol cordless garden tools. It slots into the same battery port and uses the same BMS communication as the original pack. Fits models including the GAL-E 40 Li, GAM-E 33/1 Li, and GAM-E43Li, among others.
- Cross-model compatibility on the Gardol 20V platform: These models share a common 20V rail, identical connector housing, and the same BMS handshake protocol — that's why one battery pack works across hedge trimmers, grass shears, and lawn mowers in this range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack under simulated blade-contact inrush loads on the GAM-E 33/1 Li. The BMS held stable through repeated high-draw spikes and cut off cleanly at low-voltage threshold without tripping prematurely.
- Seasonal start-up conditioning: After winter storage, charge the pack fully before the first cut of the season, then run the tool at half speed for two full cycles before tackling thick hedges or dense grass. Cold-stored Li-ion cells need those cycles to stabilise internal resistance before handling peak motor inrush loads.

When the blade hits a thick branch or dense hedge section, the motor draws a short inrush current spike well above steady-state load. On a new or cold pack, the BMS can read this spike as an overcurrent fault and trip the output. This is more common in the first few uses before the cells have gone through conditioning cycles. Running the tool on lighter material for two or three full charges allows the BMS to calibrate and the cells to reach stable internal resistance, reducing false trips on heavy cuts.
Charger rejecting the pack after it sat unused all winter
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly in storage — over several months, a pack can drop below the charger's minimum acceptance voltage, typically around 14–16V for a 20V pack. When the charger senses voltage below that threshold, it refuses to begin a charge cycle as a safety measure. To recover the pack, some Gardol chargers include a recovery or boost mode — check the charger LED sequence for a slow-flash pattern that indicates recovery charging. If your charger has no recovery mode, a short trickle from a compatible lithium charger set to a lower voltage threshold can bring the pack back up to acceptance voltage before normal charging resumes.
