Garmin iQue M5 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (010-10567-08)
This 3.7V 1400mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Garmin iQue M5 handheld GPS navigator and PDA. It fits the iQue M5 directly using OEM part number 010-10567-08. Swap it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.
- iQue M5 platform fit: The iQue M5 uses a slim Li-Polymer pouch cell to keep the unit compact. This 65.21 × 38.67 × 5.97mm cell matches that footprint and runs the same 3.7V nominal rail the device's GPS receiver and PDA circuitry expect.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the iQue M5 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the GPS receiver powered through satellite acquisition without cutoff events.
- Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors before your first use. The iQue M5 performs a GPS cold start after full power removal — first fix takes 5–10 minutes in open sky. Subsequent warm starts are much faster once almanac data is cached.
GPS accuracy reduced when battery level drops below threshold
The iQue M5 GPS receiver draws more current during active satellite tracking than during standby. At low cell voltage — typically below 3.5V — some units reduce receiver sensitivity to protect remaining charge. This shows up as weaker signal bars and slower position updates even in open sky. Keeping the cell above 3.6V during active navigation maintains full receiver sensitivity.
iQue M5 shuts off without a low-battery warning
The battery indicator on the iQue M5 reads cell voltage, not actual state of charge. After a new cell is fitted, the gauge is uncalibrated and can show misleading levels. The device may hit its hardware voltage cutoff at around 3.4V while the indicator still shows partial charge. Run two full charge cycles — charge to 4.2V and discharge under normal navigation use — to let the gauge align with actual capacity.
