This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion cell for the Garmin Nuvi 2539LM, 2539LMT, 2559LM, and 2559LMT portable GPS navigators, plus nine additional Nuvi variants sharing the same battery bay. It replaces OEM part number AI32AI32FA14Y. Physical dimensions are 52 × 34 × 6mm — confirm these against your existing cell before fitting.
- Nuvi 2539 / 2559 platform fit: These Nuvi variants share an identical battery cavity, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The same 3.7V cell and protection circuit work across the whole group without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Nuvi platform. The onboard BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity.
- Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it run until it acquires a full satellite fix before driving. GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the Nuvi 2539LM
When the Nuvi 2539LM's battery voltage drops below roughly 3.5V under load, the unit begins reducing GPS receiver sensitivity to extend operation. This shows up as a wider position circle on-screen and occasional route recalculations on roads you're already following. It's not a software bug — the receiver is trading accuracy for power draw. Keeping the battery above 3.6V under load, either via the car charger or a healthy cell, keeps the receiver running at full sensitivity.
Nuvi 2539LM shuts off without warning before the battery indicator hits zero
After a battery swap, the Nuvi's fuel gauge is uncalibrated — it doesn't yet know the new cell's actual discharge curve. The unit can shut off abruptly while the on-screen indicator still shows one or two bars. This corrects itself after two to three full charge-and-discharge cycles, which allow the firmware to map the new cell's voltage profile. Run the unit on battery to automatic shutdown, then charge fully to 4.2V each time until the indicator tracks accurately.
