The Nuvi's battery indicator reads higher than the actual remaining voltage, so the unit hits the hardware cutoff threshold — typically around 3.0V under load — with no visible warning. This is not a firmware fault; it is a calibration mismatch between the old cell's degraded curve and the gauge. After fitting a fresh cell, allow one full charge cycle to let the gauge re-calibrate against the new cell's output curve.
