GE portable monitors run a staged boot that includes a BMS handshake before the main OS loads. The device stalls partway through the startup screen and either freezes or powers off. Connect the monitor to mains AC before attempting to power on, let the battery charge for at least 30 minutes, then boot from AC power still connected.
Low battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge
This happens because the GE monitor's charge IC compares reported cell capacity against an internal OEM baseline. On a new cell, the BMS hasn't yet built a capacity history, so the state-of-charge estimate runs conservative and the monitor flags a low threshold alarm even at near-full charge. The fix is one complete charge-discharge cycle run outside clinical use — charge to full, allow the monitor to run on battery until it self-terminates, then charge again to 100%. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates its state-of-charge model and the alarm behaviour normalises.
