Why the Vscan reports a battery fault after a confirmed full charge
The Vscan's charge management IC applies a conservative chemistry threshold when it encounters a new or unfamiliar cell. This can cause the device to flag a fault even when the cell is genuinely at full charge. One complete charge-discharge cycle allows the BMS to calibrate against the new cell's actual capacity curve, and the fault clears on subsequent charges.
Vscan won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the cell voltage drops below the Vscan BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell — the device will not initiate a boot sequence. The BMS interprets a deeply discharged cell as a fault condition and blocks power delivery to protect internal circuitry. Place the battery on charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charge indicator shows no activity after that window, check that the charging contacts are clean and making firm contact.
