Why the MAC 2000 shows a battery fault immediately after inserting a new cell
The MAC 2000's charge IC applies conservative acceptance thresholds calibrated to OEM cell chemistry. A new third-party cell with a slightly different internal resistance profile can trigger a fault flag on first insertion even when the cell is fully charged. This is a BMS learning behaviour, not a defective battery. One complete charge-discharge cycle clears the threshold mismatch and the fault does not recur.
MAC 2000 not powering on after battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage has dropped below approximately 10V, the MAC 2000's BMS will refuse to engage — this is a protection response, not a hardware fault. Connect the device to mains power and leave it on charge for at least two hours before attempting to boot. Once the cell recovers above the BMS recovery threshold, normal startup resumes.
