The MAC 800's charge IC applies conservative thresholds when it first encounters a new cell. On the initial cycle, the BMS compares internal resistance and voltage rise rate against its stored OEM chemistry profile. A fresh cell often reads outside that window, triggering a low-battery alarm even when the cell is fully charged. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle — ending with a full charge to 8.35–8.40V — and the BMS will recalibrate its threshold to the new cell's actual profile.
Device will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage drops below approximately 6.0V, the MAC 800's BMS enters a protection lockout and blocks turn-on entirely. Place the battery on charge for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power the device — the charge IC applies a low-rate pre-charge trickle below 7.0V to recover the cell safely. Once voltage climbs above the BMS recovery threshold, normal charging resumes and the device will power on.
