The Mack Link BMS runs a verification pass during the boot sequence to confirm cell chemistry and state-of-charge. A new cell arriving partially discharged from storage may read below the firmware's minimum boot threshold, which halts startup before the device reaches the home screen. This is a BMS gate, not a faulty battery. Charge the replacement fully before the first boot — confirmed full charge reads 4.2V at the cell terminals — then power on and allow the self-test to finish uninterrupted.
Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge cycle
On the first charge, the Mack Link's charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an unrecognised cell, which causes the indicator to stall below 100% or take significantly longer than expected. This is normal behaviour — the IC is profiling the new cell before committing to a full-rate charge. Complete one full charge-discharge cycle, and the charge IC recalibrates its upper limit. After that first cycle, the indicator will reach 100% at the standard rate.
